the bestest photograph of a flower I've ever taken

After saying macro photography is somewhere between boring and the best thing ever, I've come to rely on it as my only current source of creative image making and therefore it is a Godsend.

What has also helped me along the way has been the glorious weather we've had this Spring meaning our garden is absolutely beautiful.

So, couple my newfound love of close up imagery with sunshine and a new (old) camera and you get this week's picture.  It's one I am really proud of.  It is in no way a macro shot, it's just a picture of a flower.  But the shallow depth of field rendering the orange geum in perfect sharpness against the diffused purple background is, for me anyway, just perfect.

Of course, you can make your own mind up but if you disagree with me then on his occasion you are, I'm afraid to say, wrong!!

post script: 40 years ago tonight and as a sweet 16 year old (yeah right) I went to the Brangwyn Hall in Swansea to see a young, up and coming band.  My friends and I had just finished our O' levels and, illegally bought cider in one hand and newspaper wrapped fish and chips in the other, we sat in the early summer sun before witnessing one of the earliest concerts by Iron Maiden.  Not a bad way to celebrate finishing our exams!
