chasing dreams

Around 4 years or so ago I was sat outside a café on the waterfront in Swansea, waiting for my old friend Dave Brayley to emerge from his office for his lunch break.

It’s fair to say he wasn’t a happy man.

His job was stifling his creativity.  He’d already written a biography and several sports quiz books but was struggling to complete his first novel “Champion of Champions”.

I told him that he should give up his job to pursue his writing career further.  I never for one minute thought that I would shortly receive a telephone call telling me he’d done just that!

Anyway, last night (20 September) in London, Dave was attending the Daily Telegraph Sports Book of the Year Awards.  His latest book, “Kick Off – Chasing a Rugby Dream” co-written with Welsh rugby legend James Hook had been shortlisted in the children’s category.

And it won!

Proof positive that dreams can come true.  Sometimes it just takes a little nudge in the right direction.

So, if you’re the parent of a sports or rugby mad youngster, or just like a good read yourself then rush out and buy a copy – before they sell out!
