a grey grey day at Dunraven bay

Before we begin, can I just take the time to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.

Back in the middle of December I had intended to meet up with a photographer friend at Dunraven Bay on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

He had to pull out at the last minute (because covid) but I decided to troop along with the family in tow and I'm so glad I did.

Now, photography on grey old days isn't that easy.  There's no stunning light to lift a picture, so it's all about composition and exposure.  Back to photography basics then if you like, and these two images I think illustrate that approach.

The first utilises a classic leading line, while the second relies on a long exposure to get the desired interest and end result.

1.4 seconds @ f16, ISO 100

The trip saw the first use of my new 10-stop filter too, after my Lee one was smashed on some rocks in November.  To be honest, the Zomei gives a much more "neutral" result than the Lee did for around 40% of the cost too.

You will be saddened to discoveer (I hope) that there is no video this week.  I'm taking a short break from YouTube but will be back at the end of this month.
