One advantage of being so pedestrian and plodding is that I get to spot things I might otherwise miss while out and about.

And when this past autumn I was plodding along slowly I spotted this fallen sycamore seed lying on the beautifully textured bark of this fallen tree in my local woodland.

I thought it would make for an excellent macro study, so set about taking three images focused on different parts of the seed which I later blended on my computer.

And to give you fair warning there will be a post on Sunday this week, when I reveal my favourite image of 2022.  Miss that at your peril!
