autumn is nearly here then

And along with it comes my most favourite time of year for taking photographs!

When I was a mainly landscape shooter, I always longed for the shorter days of autumn and winter, as they meant not having to get up early or stay up late to get the best light.  And while that still remains relevant as I do still take the odd landscape image, I'm now more interested in documenting the change from summer into winter.

Things like fallen leaves and debris on the ground, the proliferation of spiders at this time of year and of course the beautiful world of fungi, moss and lichen all beg to be photographed.  The image below is the perfect illustration of the sort of picture I enjoy taking - woodland floor cameos with layers of interest.  Well, to me at least.

And then there is the change of colour in the woodland, with oranges, yellows and russet browns replacing the heavy green canopy present for the past few months.  This should also lead to easier conditions for a spot of bird photography, with falling leaves meaning more light penetrating the treetops.

The only problem is me.  I feel like my body is starting to grumble more at the presence of myeloma, with my back, hips and legs starting to ache almost the second I start to walk anywhere.  But I shall persevere, with the alternative of sitting at home waiting to expire not being at all attractive!

Onwards!!!
