who knew it was so much fun

I think, well I know actually, that it's fair to say the focus of my photography (pardon the pun) has shifted over the past year or so from me doing mostly landscape and seascape stuff with the odd bit of macro and nature thrown in, to the complete opposite.

In fact, these days I would call myself a nature photographer really.

But I do still get my camera on a tripod and fire off an image or two of a nice view.  And with me having to visit the hospital far more frequently these days I find myself drawn to the coast to de-stress afterwards.  It's something I've always done really, but as I said it's far more frequent now.

Anyway, my last two visits have coincided with a high (ish) tide and so I took my landscape lens and filters with me and captured the two images below, about five days apart.

Fujifilm X-H2, Fujinon 10-24mm f4 at 10mm
6.5 seconds at f8, ISO 125
tripod, Kase Wolverine circular polariser and 10-stop neutral density filters, self-timer release

Fujifilm X-H2, Fujinon 10-24mm f4 at 21mm
15 seconds at f10, ISO 125
tripod, unbranded 10-stop neutral density filter, self-timer release

And I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Now, standing on a rocky beach waiting for that perfect wave (that hardly ever arrives) might not appeal to many.  But I love it.  I find it really helps me take my mind away from the stresses of cancer and worrying about treatment, etc.

That's the polar opposite of fun!

In this week's utterly unmissable tech Tuesday video, I look at the earth shatteringly important question of whether you should ever use your camera's extended low ISO settings.  I know, I know.  How would you, how could you in fact live with yourself without knowing the answer. Thankfully, all you have to do to find out is click below.  It might change your life...
