brown

If you open the Oxford English Dictionary and look up the word "boring", then all you'll see there are some shades of brown.  Not the interesting coppery brown, no.  But the dull, uninteresting shades from beige right through to near black.

This picture is very brown, but somehow not boring or dull.  Well, nit to my eyes at least.

When I saw this brown female chaffinch, on a brown tree. with brown crab apples and a brown brick background I was instantly very excited.  You see, I felt it perfectly encapsulated the day I took it.  It was a grey (it could have been brown) Thursday at the end of November and it just screamed "late autumn" at me.
