a lovely but strange tribute

There's a little patch of South Wales, near the source of the River Tawe in the upper Swansea Valley, that we call our "Paradise".

My family and I have been coming here for many years to enjoy the (normal) peace and solitude the place offers.  It can get busy in the summer months when people have barbecues, etc. there and sadly sometimes leave their litter there.  People.

Anyway, we were up there last week to take some pictures and film some video footage when I spotted something I've not seen there despite coming to this very spot for, as I said, many years.

It was a tiny metal plaque attached to an outcrop of rock by four even tinier screws; a memorial to an R. Osbourne placed there in 2013.  Obviously, someone else who loved the spot dearly.  Now, I've seen many types of memorials, the norm being a park bench with other a plaque or an inscription on it.  But I've never seen anything quite like this!

I've stood on this spot dozens of times since 2013 and never once spotted this tribute.  As I did, the air grew colder, and I wondered... was R. Osbourne there with me right at that moment?  I hope they were!

This week's video takes a look at creating macro images without a macro lens and can be viewed just by clicking below.  The video, and the images for that matter, from my photo-shoot at Paradise can be seen next week.
