Heroes

Yesterday in the UK, along with people in many other countries, we paused to remenber those who have lost their lives during conflicts across the globe.

My late Dad fought in Burma during World War 2 and was obviously fortunate enough to return home at the end of the war.  Many of his friends weren't so lucky.

In common with many war veterans my Dad rarely spoke of his time in the far East, but I often read of his brigade's escapades and wonder whether I would have coped as a 22 year old sent half way around the World to fight.

At his funeral in 1998 we were humbled at the presence of so many of his comrades who came to pay their respects, and yesterday I found myself thinking back to that day and realising that there were now probably very few of those men left alive.

So I want to pay respect to them and my Dad and would ask you to have a look at the link below and think of all they went through thousands of miles from home.

Thank you.

  1. I tried, I really did.......but I could only get as far as the bodies flying out of the other end of the tunnel. :(
I appreciate and respect their service (my father, both my grandfathers and now my nephews) but I find it difficult to read about.
