the camera shop
On Wednesday I decided I needed a new flash gun to indulge in my new found hobby of indoor macro photography.
This entailed a small amount of research (Nikon only make 2 suitable models) and a trip to Swansea to my most favouritest shop in the whole World - Swansea Camera Centre. Well it's my joint favourite with the hi-fi shop just around the corner from it.
These are what are known as "man shops".
Walking in there is like walking into a comfortable club. Cases on the walls containing old equipment which I love looking at, not a computer screen in sight, no flash sales techniques (pardon the pun) and friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable staff who it is a pleasure to chat with. And you get the feeling that they like talking to you too.
I know this contradicts my blog about shopping the other day, but this is different. OK?
I left with my flashgun after being shown exactly how to use it and to call back if there were any problems.
Try getting that service in a major retail store.
Anyway I set up my camera and flash today and got (I think / hope) some nice shots. I'll pop them on the computer tomorrow and upload the best ones.
you can never have too many tripods
Post script:
Bugger, whilst typing this and eating some chocolate buttons (who says men can't multi-task) one of my molars has just disintegrated.

I object to the 'man shop' comment - it's one of my favourite shops too. Oh and sorry about the tooth!
ReplyDeleteyes but we all know you're a man really - just a strange looking one
DeleteNo, she's not a man, she just 'flunked girl'. As much as I dislike shopping there are SOME exceptions. This sounds like a shop I would enjoy. Can't wait to see your pics. (PS your house looks lovely and interesting!)
