fossils

No, I’m not referring to me or anyone who reads this forum!

But this week’s image was taken on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, an area famous for finding fossilised remains of all sorts of things.  Honestly, they are visible as you just walk along the coastline.

Anyway, this image was shot at Nash Point, and shows the crumbling cliff face there at sunset.  Tragically, people have been killed by falling rocks here so it’s not advisable to dwell near the foot of the cliffs for any time.

I was at a very safe distance though, and I’m particularly happy with the way the cracks in the bedrock lead the eye into the image.  The cliffs were beautifully lit by the low sun, but unfortunately I couldn’t wait any longer to catch the sky lighting up as the sun dipped below the horizon as I needed to make the tricky walk back to the car while it was still relatively light.

It was one of those occasions where I get frustrated by my disability. A short stroll I would have taken in my stride a few years ago has changed into a (and I’m not exaggerating here) an utterly exhausting, painful and life threatening exercise.

Oh well.  At least I didn’t fall over unlike my last excursion onto rocks at Mumbles!!
