what’s happening to me?

The other week it was politics, and this week I find myself writing about something else I never thought I’d do.

And that is that I’m sitting in a Costa Coffee shop in Sevenoaks writing on an iPad at breakfast time.  I’m having myself a party of sorts with a large cappuccino (decaf of course) and a slice of millionaire shortbread.

Delicious.

Looking around, the customers fit into two very distinctive groups: mums who have just dropped their children off at school, and people (like me) typing away on a mixture of iPads and laptops.  Apple devices seem to be the norm here.  Perhaps in Starbucks it’s more Microsoft or android?  Who knows?

Although I fit in with my iPad then, I am lacking one essential ingredient from the other punters in here.  And that is that I haven’t got a beard.  Neither have (most of) the women as well, but you know what I mean.  I’m just not a hipster and trendy enough to fit in here.

perhaps one of these????

I need to get into town, buy myself some sort of shoulder bag and vow not to shave for however long it takes me to grow the necessary facial fuzz.

Anyway, as an aside, when I was walking in here I was accosted by a rather strange woman (no, it wasn’t the beard that made her so) who was complaining loudly about how she hated “young people”.  I muttered some sort of reply in my Welsh accent and she blurted out “my God, you’re American – I hate them even more”!!

And I thought Wales was strange.
