patterns

I’ve often written in the past that you don’t need a magnificent view and breath-taking light to make an interesting image.

I was faced with such a dilemma on a recent visit to my favourite location, Limeslade Bay, at the Mumbles.

The tide was going out leaving an untidy looking beach behind and the sky was just a dull monotone grey.

But I then spotted a really dark red, almost black, rock on its own.  I then noticed the patterns the receding tide was making as waves swept over the rock and made their way back out to the grey sea.

I love this image.  It was so easy to make: tripod, one filter and a tweak of the camera’s ISO to achieve a shutter speed of 2 seconds - ideal to capture the patterns of the waves.
