well, at last

I've recently made a huge decision.

And that is that after years of procrastination I'm producing a book of my best images.

Now, I've no idea if there'll be any demand for it, or whether it'll get published even, but "Lifesaving Light" (that's its working title for now) is a work in progress.

I've so far selected around forty images taken over the last 4 years or so that I feel have helped me get over myeloma and kept me focussed (pardon the pun) on not thinking about relapsing.

I honestly think that throwing myself into photography and then writing about it for my blog has given me a sense of direction and purpose that I was finding hard to re-discover after having to retire from my day job.

I now feel as though I'm working again - I'm treating it as a Monday to Friday kind of 9 to 5 type affair.  I go into my little office, shut myself off from the outside world and go about writing my little book.

Whatever happens, at the end of it I'll have something I can be proud of; something I've actually achieved.

Any suggestions for a title (and not Booky McBookface) are most welcome.

....................................

P.S I've got a couple of "bonus" photography tutorial posts coming up shortly to coincide with videos being released on my YouTube channel and to compliment the landscape photography crash course I published earlier this year.

This Saturday (5th) sees a tutorial on how to get killer skies in your images, and then on 19th September there's one on shooting and stitching pamoramas.

I've also shot a new channel trailer for my YouTube channel, so please take a look at that here:

Yes, I've been "working" hard!

  1. Is it going to be a coffee table book of just images or the story of how photography helped you through your diagnosis (with pictures)? I think an uplifting book about your trials and tribulations through your treatment would go over very well! But then again a coffee table book would be lovely too...... Maybe you need to write TWO books! :)
