it's so frustrating

At time of writing (5 October) I am experiencing something really odd.  I am really very extremely creative right now.

I’m having ideas for YouTube videos and filming and editing and publishing those.  I’ve finished writing my book and am writing well in advance for my blog.  And, of course, I’ve been taking pictures.

Of course, by the time you come to read this it’ll all have come crashing down, and if it does, I know where the blame lies.

Covid.

Well, Covid and stupid people.

The clocks are just about to go back heralding my favourite time of the year for photography.  I love the shorter daylight hours as they mean no getting up early or staying up late to get the best light.  And that soft light lasts longer as the sun never climbs that high in the sky.

And we are (and in all likelihood will be for some time) in a local lockdown.

Months after the first case I really thought we’d have beaten this by now.  But it seems the actions of the few have as always spoiled it for the many.  I mean, what is wrong with obeying some simple instructions that are there for all of us?

I’m afraid they have cost me the pleasure of travelling to lovely countryside locations with my camera, and although I have the beautiful Gower Peninsula on my doorstep, I really crave the woodland and mountains that are so near but out of reach.

Why can’t people just bloody listen?

PS.  It' now 20th October, and on Friday Wales goes into a "circuit breaking" lockdown for 2 and a half weeks during which time we are told to stay at home, so I can't now even travel within Swansea's boundaries.  I don't think photography will be recognised as an essential reason to go out somehow.  So, it appears this autumn is a write-off.

There's always next year - I hope!

  1. There's always your own backyard....literally. Sometimes the muse is right under our noses and we don't even realize it. Just sayin'. ;)
