telephoto landscape photography

Surely there's no place for a telephoto lens in landscape photography?  I mean, it's all about capturing grand vistas, isn't it?

Well, sometimes yes, but there are times when a telephoto lens is an essential weapon in the landscape photographer's arsenal for capturing little vignettes within a scene or for compressing images to bring far away objects closer.

But until recently it was something that I didn't possess.  Well, for my medium format kit that is.  So, after saving hard I went and bought one.  A lovely Fujifilm GF 100-200mm f5.6 medium telephoto zoom.  It's got image stabilisation built in, though as I usually shoot on a tripod this is of little use to me

Sorted!

And here is the very first image I shot with it.  From my garden, of some trees around a mile away!  And it's handheld so a fair test of the stabilisation.

Fujifilm GFX50R, Fujinon GF 100-200mm f5.6 @ 200mm
1/1400th of a second at f5.6. ISO 100
