I can finally rest

Back in March of 2020 I wrote that when the time came to change my Audi TTS for another car I would be going "electric".

Fast forward to the end of May 2021 and sitting proudly in my garage is our new car.

It's an electric Volkswagen!

Yes, we did it.  I stuck to my promise and we now have an electric car.  And it's our only car (for now at least - I might buy myself a little van for photo adventures).

I immediately feel more green than when I owned my 300 horse power sports car.  And although I am missing the luxury my Audi afforded me, the performance of this electric machine is simply breathtaking. Pulling into gaps in traffic is a breeze as the acceleration is instant with zero lag between planting my right foot and getting up to the speed of the traffic.

And best of all, I no longer have to visit a petrol station!

Yes, our electricity bill will increase, but we will still be making huge savings.  Insurance is cheaper and there is no annual road fund license to pay (my Audi cost me over £500 a year to tax).

The only real downside is that we'll no longer be able to just jump in our car and head off on a long journey.  But we rarely did that anyway and the charging network in the UK is improving all the time.

So, I am now officially an eco warrior.  Watch out Greta, I'm coming for your job!
