unprepared

Sometimes when a photograph presents itself to you, you have to go with what you've got equipment wise.  After all, how does that old saying go?  The best camera is the one you have with you!

Anyway, I was faced with a dilemma while down at the woods the other week armed only with my 100-400mm telephoto lens and I happened upon a huge bee resting on a leaf.

As great as this lens is, a close focus is not one of its main attributes.

So, there I was, around 6 feet away from this comparatively tiny object trying to pick the optimum moment to press the shutter.  I think what I got was OK, although in post processing I had to crop in so far that only around 5 megapixels of the original 40 I shot remain!

Anyway, here he is (or she - probably a female actually), the first bee of the year.

Oh God!  I've gender assigned it.  I'm waiting for the police to kick in my door at any momen...

This week's video sees Dexter and me return to our usual Monday morning stroll along a local path, just seeing what we can see...
