my life's work

I have a fairly strict and rigorous workflow when it comes to saving and backing up my photo and video files.  After every shoot, I upload the images, etc. to a selection of external solid-state drives, and then at the end of every week I back everything up before formatting the memory cards in my camera.

Then at the end of each calendar year all my raw photo and video files are archived onto two large capacity hard drives, and secure back ups of those are then made.  I've now got raw files going all the way back to the start of my digital adventure in 2010.

All my completed photo and video projects have their own home, and in turn are also copied to a back up disk.

Anyway, when I was performing my last back up of 2023, it got me thinking that everything I've ever done as a digital photographer, so every raw file, every jpeg and every finished or processed image and video, is on storage media that would fit in a small shoe box!

Also, every document I've ever created either at home or during my working life could be stored on something that could probably fit in a matchbox.

everything I've ever done!!

It's incredible to think that really.

Of course, in the old days of printed images or cine reels, I'd probably have enough to fill my loft at home.  In fact we do have a large storage box full of images and their negatives dating back over thirty years.

But I still find it amazing that around fifteen or so years of digital photography and videography can be fitted into something so small.

The wonders of technology aye!!
