a few (well one) of my favourite things

One of my most favourite photographic subjects is found at my feet.  I really enjoy looking for patterns in fallen leaves on the woodland floor whenever we go to feed the birds.

I know, I know - it's really not very exciting at all.  Boring in fact, some would say.  But I enjoy the whole process of finding compositions and then finding ways around the problems shooting them causes.  They usually require a multi-shot focus bracket and then stacking later.

So, getting all the shots needed while hoping nothing moves is the biggest hurdle.  And then it's a case of ensuring I have sufficient images accurately focused throughout the whole scene.  I can't claim any credit for the stacking - that's all done using an application called Helicon Focus.

Here's my latest masterpiece…

Fujifilm X-H2, Laowa 65mm f2.8 Ultra-Macro
1/60th of a second at f4, ISO 125
tripod, self-timer release
8 images stacked in Helicon Focus

Today's video has absolutely nothing to do with leaves, or even photography.  But instead is a look at what I think are the three greatest debut hard rock albums from 1970 and 71.  Go on, take a trip down amnesia lane…
