a frosty morning walk

We're in the middle of a cold, dry spell of weather right now and the clear nights are leading to frosty mornings.  Unfortunately, we're not seeing a heavy hoar frost, more like a gentle kiss of light frost on the landscape.  However, this can still lead to some interesting scenes, and today's picture is another of my leafscapes (sorry).

While these may not be to everyone's taste, I find the endless possibilities in something so simple to be really quite addictive.

It was the contrast between the frost-tinged edges of the leaves and the dark undergrowth that attracted me to the scene.  Then it was the little green flashes of grass, one blade of which was covered in globules of ice, that completed the composition, almost acting like a natural frame.  I then had to shoot two images to get all the elements in sharp focus.

See, these aren't just snapshots!!

If you'd like to see more of how I go about finding and photographing these "leafscapes" then watch today's video (linked above) and take a look at my latest e-book "Intimate Landscapes or The Art of Seeing" available in the resources section of this blog.  Just on the left over there...
