I think I've had enough now
Not of this blog, but of Instagram.
The idea behind it is great. A platform for showing off your best photographic work. And I dare say that when it started out it was just that.
But now, for me at least, it's ruined.
There are too many advertisements. Too many "reels" (and yes I know I've been guilty of posting the odd one or two). And far too much of the horrible social media trends of influencers and seeking likes, where genuinely great photography is overlooked unless you've sold your soul for a huge following.
So, I think I'm through with it.
But where to post my images I hear you all cry. Alright, you probably don't care that much but grant me some poetic license!
I think I have the ideal platform here if I'm honest. So, from now on you'll see more and more of my images posted here. I've never been one for chasing likes or peer approval, after all my photography is first and foremost for my own personal enjoyment. If I take what I think is a great image, then I'll post it online.
Just that from now on I'll be posting them here and not on Instagram. I will however continue to support the photographers I do follow on there, and if they want to carry on supporting me then this is the place to do it going forward.
Anyway, for now, here's a picture of a jumping spider I took recently. I'm quite happy with the detail especially considering it was about half the size of my little fingernail!

Happy New Year buddy, hope its as healthy as it can be for ya. Totally get the IG comment as you know and like you I will be still browsing the followers but I really don't find any satisfaction with the media.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I can just click a picture and see it high-res! Instagram is gimped in such strange ways, seemingly on purpose...
