that didn't go well

Multiple myeloma is a pain.  And I don't mean that metaphorically.  For the best part of ten years, I have suffered with chronic bone pain which has only got worse since my relapse nearly two years ago now.

The main bones affected are the spine, pelvis, hips and ribs; though this is not a comprehensive list as any bone can be affected.

Anyway, shortly before my relapse, and personally what I feel caused or certainly contributed to it, I fell breaking two ribs in the process.  This was obviously really very painful and took around eight to ten weeks to get even remotely better.

Well, just the other night and after looking at my laptop in bed, I closed its lid and reached over to place it on the floor.  But the floor was a little further away than I thought causing me to stretch a little further than was comfortable and then "CRACK".

from happier times!

A horrible sound followed by excruciating pain radiating from the right side of my chest.  I'd broken another rib, only this time not by falling but rather the inherent weakness in the bones themselves.

There's little that can be done for a broken rib and given my aversion to anything hospital related I'm not going down that route anyway.  Of course, I'll tell my consultant when I next speak with him in late March but otherwise it's a case of resting (so no images today other than this old archive one sorry), taking plenty of pain relief and waiting for it to heal.

Multiple myeloma is a pain!
