Last summer I planted a buddleia in my garden, solely to attract butterflies. It is, after all, known as the "butterfly bush".
And not one visited. Not a sausage. Or a butterfly.
So, I moved it to a different spot that gets more morning sun and evening shade. And the butterflies have flocked to it. Well, that's not quite true. At time of writing (17 July and on the middle of a heatwave) I've seen three - a red admiral, meadow brown and the subject of this week's post, a painted lady.
