you can tell it's hot

At time of writing we are coming to the end of our second summer heatwave.  Hopefully we'll get a few days of cooler, wetter weather (my poor lawn) before we are forecast another dry and hot spell in August.

It has been the hottest summer I can remember, with the thermometer on the north facing wall on our home reaching nearly 40 degrees Celsius last month.  At 8PM!!!

Anyway, you know how hot it is when insects risk everything to take a drink out of our garden bird bath.  Just like this wasp.
