boring, I know

I'll be the first to freely admit that I'm not the most exciting chap in the World.  I'm not even the most exciting chap in my house - that accolade belongs to the only other male inhabitant here: Dexter.  He's a dog.

So it might come as no surprise that when it was mentioned to me that I might like to move my computer from the lounge into the spare bedroom that I was overcome with joy.  My project management skills kicked in and within hours the move was complete.

My computer now sits on a lovely white desk, connects to my wireless network, prints wirelessly to a network connected printer (non-wireless, but that's for another time) and I even have a new chair to get warm and fuzzy about.

But that wasn't enough.

I've never been happy with the way my (Apple) computer organises my pictures.  I gave up on iPhoto and switched to Lightroom years ago but the file structure still meant nothing.  Folders with non existent dates and folders out of order just wouldn't do.  So I set about re-organising.

I now have folders for each year since 2011, with sub folders for each camera used and further sub folders by date within each camera.

I really couldn't be happier.  No, really I couldn't.

I even now have a folder specially for images I have printed.

The down side?  Well it took some time to repair links to some images (but most of them Lightroom found itself).

And I haven't even got to telling you about my new back up routine yet...

Did I mention I wasn't particularly exciting?

  1. Ugh! Organizing images is such a pain! I think the computer should just 'know' where you want it to go. After all, computers are supposed to be so smart, aren't they? ;)
