eyes and lips another things

The recent story of a Polish man given the amazing gift of being able to walk again following ground breaking treatment to his spinal cord got me thinking about my favourite innovations, discoveries and inventions.

Obviously the classics such as fire, the wheel, the internet and manned space flight need no introduction.  Likewise there are ones that the world would be better without; things like cancer, Ebola and musical theatre.

After much deliberation yesterday I was able to narrow my favourites down from a long list that included the Apollo project, anything made by Nikon and the sledge hammer down to just two things: Sky go and the sausage.

No, I know what you're thinking (the man's an idiot) but hear me out.

Sky go enables you to watch live sport and news (and other TV but there's no point in that) on a mobile phone wherever you happen to find yourself.  Excuse me, but as someone who grew up with black and white TV and last Thursday's Daily Express to catch up on the news that's just mind blowing.  It therefore delivers much pleasure to those parts of the brain that are receptive to such things.  The sausage, for very different and clearly more basic reasons, does pretty much the same thing.

But perhaps the most striking similarity between the two is that while they are able to reach our (well mine anyway) pleasure parts, only an idiot would want to know how their constituent parts are made up to do so.
