not quite but almost

Cast your mind back eleven days.

It's the run up to Christmas, the country (and my area in particular) is reeling from coronavirus and I needed something, anything to give me some more positive vibes than the down in the dumps feeling that was rapidly enveloping me.

And it came in the promise of a reasonably good sunset, with high cloud forecast while rain cleared away. So, naturally, I headed for the coast - Dunraven Bay to be precise.  It's around a half-hour drive so not too far if the promised conditions failed to materialise.

But materialise they did, resulting in one of my better images this year.  The only thing letting it down was the movement in the driftwood causing it to blur slightly during my one-second exposure.  If it had been pin-sharp I honestly think this would have been my best image of the whole year.  Alas it didn't quite make it, but I'm proud enough of it to share with you this Boxing Day.

picture the scene: late Christmas Day afternoon / early evening, I'm lolling on the sofa lapsing in and out of sleep with Dexter curled up on my legs.  Next thing he is as stiff as a board, falls to the floor convulsing.  My immediate thought was that he'd suffered a heart attack or stroke, but after two minutes or so during which time he had urinated he suddenly calmed and just lay still.

We called the emergency vet who reassured us that he had had a seizure.  Research has shown us that his breed are prone to them though their cause is not known.

Hopefully we can get him to see his vet in the next couple of days and in the meantime we have to keep him monitored.

I'm afraid I didn't handle things too well and just froze with fear of losing him.  He's only 7.
