snow-capped distant mountains

Early December 2020, and the first snow has fallen.  Only on the highest ground of the Brecon Beacons but it's some snow at last and hopefully a sign of a cold winter to come.  Fingers crossed.

This image was shot from the road to Trecastle and is of Fan Gyhirich (don't worry, I can't say it either) in the very south of the Beacons.

It of course follows my tried and tested compositional "trade mark" layering!

I love all the elements in this image.  The moody, threatening sky, the snow dusted mountain and the trees.  But what makes it special for me is the warm glow of the setting sun kissing the foot of the mountain.  It just transforms it from a photograph into a picture.  For me, anyway - maybe you disagree?

I love this image so much I've had it printed really large, and it now hangs on my bedroom wall.
