it's in the detail

I really enjoy macro photography, and spent a great deal of time trying to hone my skills to produce better images.  I also I think have a style which places the subject in its environment, telling a story if you like rather than just getting a detailed record shot.

But sometimes such a shot is the best you can hope for, and this week's image is a case in point.  I spotted a crane fly resting on a geum in my front garden.  I reached for my Fujifilm -H2 camera and Laowa lens as it was closest to hand and got a few shots.

I then rushed indoors to get my Nikon (or story-telling kit - see my post about that here) but by the time I returned the fly was long gone - either flown away or eaten by a bird!

Anyway, here's my shot.

Fujifilm X-H2, Laowa 65mm f2.8 Ultra Macro
1/240th of a second at f2.8, ISO 320
handheld

For some more detailed shots*, tune in to my latest video, where I take a short stroll in nature with my camera:

*that's more shots that are detailed, not shots that in themselves are more detailed - I don't think that's actually possible with my gear...
