I make no apologies...
... for posting yet another image of a robin. But this one is different, and I'll tell you for why in a minute!
Nearly all my robin images are shot in my local woodland. And being woodland it is often very dark there meaning I need to crank up the ISO on my camera to get a fast enough shutter speed to get an acceptably sharp image.
We very rarely get robins in our garden where the light is good enough to shoot at base ISO, but just the other day this little one rocked up and sat patiently while I got my camera to capture it.

Fujifilm X-H2, Fujinon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 at 400mm 1/15th of a second at f5.6, ISO 125 handheld (yes, handheld at 1/15th - get over it!!!) |
The extra detail captured is quite staggering, I think. He was only around 5 feet away from me and at 400mm I was glad I'd not had too much coffee that day as a combination of a steady hand, the camera's in body image stabilisation and the lens's optical image stabilisation all helped to get this pin-sharp, detailed shot.
I also have the robin to thank of course for keeping stock still. And, no, there was no super-glue involved. Honest...
Beautiful.
