letterboxes
A couple of years ago I got into making and printing multi-shot panoramic images. And to help me be more efficient with paper, I bought some dedicated panoramic paper from a company called fotospeed, measuring something like 300mm x 50mm - what is known in photographic terminology as a "letterbox" crop.
Anyway, after producing and selling a few, my reduced mobility and increasing fatigue saw my outings dwindle, and eventually I sold my panoramic tripod head and associated kit as I just wasn't using it. But I still had the paper. So, what to do?
Well, after much deliberation and trial and error, I settled upon some macro photography where I could concentrate on a narrow sliver of detail within the overall frame. I shot a couple of images of wildflowers, and then turned my attention to some tulips we had growing here and, well, here are the results:
All images were shot with my Nikon D800E and micro-Nikkor 105mm f2.8G lens. Of course, by now you all know the G stands for GOAT! (The Greatest of All-Time)
I'm really very happy with the abstract nature and vibrancy of the images. My personal favourite is the middle one, with that little curl. Let me know which one you like, and whether you think I should print them as a triptych.
