a tale of two lawns
Well, lawn is a stretch. A tale of two scruffy patches of grass!
Anyway, I live on a typical 1990s estate with open plan unfenced front gardens, meaning my neighbour's and my "lawn" are joined with no boundary. Although strangely there is.
You see, his lawn is perpetually covered in wildflowers and grasses whereas mine is always just plain grass with the odd daisy or ribwort here and there. Which is strange, as they are both cut at identical intervals by the same man with the same mower.
The only reason I can come up with is that many years ago, when I was fit and able, I did have a lawn; properly fed and regularly mowed at least twice a week. Whether this "husbandry" has resulted in a more uniform area all these years later is the only rational explanation I have.
Enough words though. Here's this week's picture. It's of a wildflower called a bird's foot trefoil. It's on my neighbour's lawn grass...
