back in the darkest recesses of time...

...or November 2012 - you pick - I was fascinated with photographing the waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons.  I wanted to document them all and had some of my best photographic adventures and most memorable times of my life trying to achieve this.

It makes me incredibly sad that I'll likely never see them again, although I do still harbour a bucket list ambition to return just once to the easiest one to reach.

This image is looking up the Afon Nedd Fechan towards Sgwd Ddwli Isaf (sorry if you're not Welsh - not everyone is perfect!!) and is of the Horseshoe Falls.

"Falls" is rather a grand term - they're only about 6 feet tall, but I rather like this image of them which I shot when I'd just started using a digital camera.

Nikon D90, Tamron 10-24 f3.5-4.5
1/4 of a second at f18, ISO 200
tripod, remote shutter release, Cokin 3-stop neutral density filter

Being able to show this image is as a result of my never discarding any of my raw image files.  I found this one, as well as the notebook I kept with the accessories I'd used to create it, while trawling through old files during this current lockdown.

I really must get a life!

my latest YouTube production can be found below.  This week I'm looking at photographing the southern Brecon Beacons.  Should be fun...

  1. We had some death-defying adventures. (And remember when my camera bag tumbled down the cliff we’d just climbed up?!).
