worried and wondering

I'm writing this post in the early hours of 14 January 2021 while in bed, unable to sleep.

I can't sleep because I am worried.

I'm worried about my dear father-in-law who I love very much.  He is in hospital where he is desperately unwell  with a large, inoperable malignant brain tumour.  I'm not a religious person, but I find myself praying for him.

a hypodeemic nerdle
I'm also worried about covid, and I am penning this now for publication on 18 February because the government has pledged that everyone in a vulnerable group will receive a vaccination (well, the first dose of it) by mid February.

While I lie awake typing this I wonder whether they will deliver on that promise and I'll get the vaccination by then.  Or, will I be deemed not vulnerable enough, and like pretty well everything else they promise, I and millions others will still be left waiting and worrying.

But most of all, sadly I wonder whether my father-in-law will still be alive when this is published in a month's time.

I guess only time will tell.

For everything.

---------------------------------------

Update - well it's been a month or so on from the date I wrote this, and I'm glad to report that last Saturday I had the first vaccine dose.  A couple of mild side-effects aside all seems fine.

My father-in-law is now home.  I broke lockdown rules a couple of weekends back to see him (arrest me - I don't care).  He seems well and in good spirits and is clearly a fighter.

I remain, however, worried.

  1. So sorry to hear about Lisa's dad.........just hope that he can be made as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. Pleased that you have had your first jab......I had my first one last Monday and Gwyn had her first this Monday, both at the Orangery in Margam. I had no side effects whatsoever but Gwyn has been a bit unwell for a day or two though she seems better today..
