There are images, then there are good images (which I like to think the ones I share here are), and then there are those images that come along only a few times a year.  Portfolio images, or "bangers" if you like; the sort of picture that has me saying "wow" to myself.

The beauty of photography (like any art form) is that you might well disagree and think this is a nothing shot.  But I like it, and it's my blog, so...

I'd been hunting in the garden for a nice leaf cameo composition when I spotted this scene and watched as the tiny snail crawled down the top leaf before peering out into the inviting tunnel crafted by the curled up leaf underneath.

And then the magic happened.  Just as it popped its little eyes out the sun obliged for a brief second and lit up the scene.  Now, usually where I'm concerned, I'd have been too late and just missed the sun or that decisive second when the snail had its little peek at what lay ahead. Indeed, a second or two later the sun went in and the snail dropped onto the lower leaf, and the image was gone.

Lucky, eh!
