passing on the genes
A few minutes after capturing Monday's photo, I spotted what I thought was a common wasp dancing among the leaves overhanging a small area of decking in my back garden.
It turned out to be a banded hoverfly. Her behaviour was fascinating; searching out the perfect spot to deposit her eggs, which she then did at the base of a leaf. At least I'm assuming they were eggs and that she was indeed a she!
