choices, choices, choices

I have a major problem; a fatal flaw in my otherwise flawless (ha!) personality.  It's called GAS.  No, not related to anything digestion related, but it stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome and afflicts hobbyists of all kinds.

Trouble is my hobby is by and large terrifyingly expensive, and therefore the cost of acquiring equipment is sometimes, shall we say, steep!

I mean, why do I have four macro lenses.  Just why?  There is absolutely no need to have more than two - one covering a longer and the other a shorter focal length.  I have two for each of those, and my latest purchase, a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f2.8 AiS is an absolute belter!

It may be manual focus only and it may lack creature comforts such as vibration reduction but just look at it.  I mean, come on - it is a thing of beauty with its engraved and coloured-in depth of field and aperture markings.  And the results it produces are equally beautiful too.  Again, just look.

Of course, I've put together a video comparing it and its performance to my other wider angle macro lens, a far more modern Fujifilm 30mm affair and as usual you can watch it by clicking below.  Well, I say "can" but I mean must.  You must watch it.

There, I've told you!
