I forgot I could fly

Today sees the first of two hoverfly images this week

I watched this one as it climbed up the stalk of this leaf on a buddleia in my garden for a good few minutes.  Then just as it reached the top it slipped back down to re-start its ascent.  It repeats this failure four or five times before remembering it had wings and could just hover to its destination!

I don' know - maybe it was "leg" day!
