you see the strangest things just crossing the road

A couple of weeks ago my wife and daughter returned from walking our border terriers and excitedly told me they'd seen a huge green caterpillar just around the corner.  So, around we popped and there it was, casually crossing the road!

So, we scooped it up into a container and brought it round to the safety of our garden before releasing it into the wild.

Now, about thirty minutes later I went out into the garden to do some deadheading and found this caterpillar amongst the foliage under some dahlias!  I figured that it would make for an interesting image while now in a more natural and less firm shall we say location.

It's a pale tussock moth caterpillar in case you'd like to know.
