friends

I've spent the last 2 and a half weeks in hospital and hope to go home on Thursday.  In an ambulance - I'm very excited by this.

It's often said that at times of adversity you find out who your friends are.  My experiences can certainly confirm this.

Yes you expect old and dear friends to gather round, cheer you up with their usual brand of gallows humour and devour the sweets and biscuits that you've been looking forward to eating all day right in front of you while you lay helplessly protesting in bed, but it's acts of generosity and heartfelt sympathy from people who you hardly know perhaps other than to nod at in the corridor in work or smile at on your road that genuinely surprise you.

So to everyone, both old and new friends who have passed on messages of support to Lisa and me can I just say thank you very much.

Even if you did eat my wine gums.
