the home office

Before anyone yells "aaaaarrrrggghhh, politics" and decides not to read this blog post, please be assured that I'm not about to wax lyrical about immigration and such like, but instead want to talk about the latest thing we must all have at home: an office.

They come in several guises.  There's the office (obviously), the study (if you're posh), the studio (for the more artistic type), the library (for the bookish), the man cave (for people like me).  I could go on.

Of course I have one of these rooms at home.  It's called the Einstein Room and it's where I have all my best ideas.  This is principally because no one else sets foot in it so it's where I get my piece and quiet to read, write, think, edit photographs, listen to music, spend time on the internet and generally just chill.

Lisa does occasionally deliver food and drink to sustain me, but I think the women of the house are equally happy with this arrangement as it keeps me from under their feet.

My Einstein Room is not very large - about 80 sqaure feet and there's a lot packed into it.  Of course I have a desk, bookcases, shelves, and CD and DVD storage, but it also houses my camera equipment: camera bodies, lenses, flash guns, tripods, hard drives.  Oh, and a red leather, swivelling, reclining extremely comfortabe chair (think Volvo) which I use when not sat at my desk.

It is by necessity extremely well organised.  As long as my wife has't decided to pop in and have a bit of a tidy up, I can lay my hands on anyhing I need within seconds.  This changes to hours after Lisa has popped in and had a tidy up though because she's decided that my collection of fountain pens would be better off in the bureau in the lounge.

Here are some iPhone pictures from the Einstein Room (perhaps I should rename it the iNstein room - no that's an Apple step too far).

                                                  mmmmmm......shelves with cameras on

another interesting picture of some shelves and my Canon A3 printer
(yes I know the wall needs plastering)

                                                          my extremely beautiful 27" iMac

As is usually the case though, this room will be redecorated iand remodelled n the late Spring.  I'll be installing a new, larger desk to house my printer nearer my iMac and some new speakers to replace my excellent but ageing soundsticks.  I dare say when it's all done there'll be more pictures of things on shelves.  I might even do a video.

Boring people only need check in!
