home to bed

This morning I woke up in my own bed.  Well I was woken up by my dog gently licking the ends of my fingers.  I think he's missed his dad while I've been away.

Now starts the process of adapting from total dependence on medical staff to administer drugs and make sure I'm comfortable to total dependence on my wife Lisa to do the same. Luckily she is a very organised person so we have files and spreadsheets to tell us what needs to be done and when.

But I think the hardest part will be the feeling that now I am home I am obviously fully recovered and therefore able to do everything I did before.  This is going to come as a bit of a shock to start with I think.  Particularly as at present I sleep for around 16 hours a day - not due to laziness (honestly) but because of my drugs.

I kmow I have to start slowly though.  Today I just want to go outside for 5 minutes so I can get some fresh air - something I have craved for almost 3 weeks.  Luckily although it's cold the sun is shining so I'll get the added bonus of some vitamin D as well.

In the meantime I've a lot of reading to catch up on so I'm sure I'll fill my days quite quickly.
