hope

Well I had my surgery on Tuesday.

All went well and I am now part skin, bone, blood, muscle (loads!) and latterly titanium. And other squidgy bits of doubtless indeterminate pathalogical nature.

Today hopefully my wound drains come out and I can start some light physio work.

Following the operation I was left with a button to self medicate with morphine every 5 mintes.  The only problem with this arrangement was that lapsing in an out of consciousness made pain control difficult at worst and hit and miss at best.

My hope though now extends to my getting some movement back in my spine and getting back nearer to my home  in Swansea for Christmas.  I'm resigned to spending it in hospital but just want to spend it somewhere nearer for my family to visit without putting them through too much trouble.

Once again the care I have received at this hospital has been second to none - including the good natured banter with the Cardiff City fan here!

Hope springs eternal.

  1. Glad to hear the drains are out. Always a good sign. And that you're back on a regular schedule for your pain meds. I'll keep my fingers crossed they transfer you back to your local hospital for Christmas. :)
